I'm not sure if it was a conscious or subconscious decision, but Utzon, being a true nordic, designed a sofa for his Can Lis home with the intention of fostering family gatherings around its circular shape, which had other intriguing implications. For years, his family, including his children, would come together on that sofa, firmly anchored to the house like the trunk of an oak tree. During those Mallorcan dinners and conversations, on a sofa adorned with uniquely trapezoidal cushions, it's likely that his children naturally adopted proper seating without the need for verbal reminders. No sprawling to inconvenience others nearby. That armchair, therefore, not only educates but also upholds decorum more than meets the eye. Well done, Utzon. And thanks to the virtues of geometry.
